Q: What do the silver lever and knobs actually do?

They are fully functional controls! The Return Lever: Pull the lever to cycle through 14+ dynamic backlight modes . It mimics the carriage return of a real vintage typewriter. The Left Knob: Adjusts the LED brightness level. The Right Knob: Controls your device's Volume (Vol+/Vol-).

Q: Can I switch the backlight to a single solid color (or turn it off)?(

Yes, you can! While the lever cycles through dynamic multi-color effects, you can also set the keyboard to a single solid color (such as White, Blue, Purple, Red, Yellow, Green, etc.) to match your desktop setup. Prefer a simpler look? You can easily turn the backlight OFF completely or adjust the brightness using the Left Knob.

Vintage feel with New Age capabilities

Love the compact feel of the keyboard, out of the box it brought back some nostalgic feelings. I watched my father type on an older vintage typewriter and when I took the 7keys typewriter for a spin, hearing the clicking of the keys took me back to a young girl. But more than that the feel of it is amazing, I love the return handle being where I change the lights, it was such a Great purchase!!!
